More like 15 years. I think OSH got it back in 1992 and as far as I know it never flew after that.

This is 23314 in her RCAF colours, it was a MK 5 Sabre which was later fitted with MK 6 wings. Anyone know when this was done?
She was flown to Gatineau Executive Airport on the 19 September 2007, with pilot Ron Iberg at the controls.

This picture shows her as she looked when they arrived at Vintage Wings Canada. They have also started to recieve the spares very impressive assortment.

Maybe Bud Granley could ake it for a spin. That would make a great story.

Bud would have no trouble with the Sword! Wasn't he NATO's top gunner three years running?
It might be interesting to see who flies it. Ive heard one name already mentioned that would be very appropriate for Canada's 100 years of flight.

That's just a shame to cover all that beautiful polished aluminium with gold paint, IMO.

Will it fly as is for a bit, or not until its repainted?

Sun Nov 04, 2007 9:58 pm

I wouldn't doubt it. The funny thing is, I think the flight helmet he wears is the same one from when he flew with the Golden Hawks.

It might fly in the natural finish next year which is planned as a training year before being repainted.

I look forward to see her hopefully fly at Vintage Wings 1st open house next year....cheers
