Made a trip out to Chino for the Waco and Lockheed Flyin. Pics are here...

http://picasaweb.google.com/dtlinn/ChinoFlyinFall2007

Not very many airplanes made it in but it was great to shoot pics of the ones that did and have a chance to visit with the owners.

Was able to visit with Mike and Brandon from here on WIX... good to meet you guys face to face.

Wrote up some of the details from the trip on my blog. Link to the blog is on my web site.

Good stuff Dan! I think I recognize a couple of them from Mark N.'s Creve Coeur photos. What is the bright red cabin with the silver ring cowl? Whose 195?

The Waco you ask about is Alan buckners 1932 QDC, c/n 3579. While it left the family for many years before Alan restored it, his father once owned that same plane.

The polished one is Les Whittlesey's. Same fellow who owns the red Wacos, EGC-8 and UPF-7 turned ZPF.

Les, Ruth and then the other is Yanks.

I met Roy at one of the evening meals. Nice guy. I missed the field trip over to his hangar to see his 12. I was told that it hasnt flown in quiet some time and that one engine is removed.

Hope to get some pics of it from him at some point for my survivors page.

Too bad the Lockheed at Hayward (Perra Brothers) and Blankenbergs from Groveland couldn't make it, would have been a great turnout.

Super guy. Used to go by his hangar every now and then in the early 90s. Went out to dinner one night with him and another Chino pilot by the name of Dave Waterman. Don't know if Dave's there anymore. By the end of dinner Roy had arranged a date for me with one of the local waitresses! If you hear from him, say hi from T J from Norway. He used to be a part of Bob Guildford's P-51 club in the 1960s. Flew N511D until its demise.
