Got to know him through working at Air Heritage. He was always a cool guy to talk to. After Air Heritage restored "909" it was David that built us a hangar and filled it with warbirds.

I only actually talked with him once since I've been with HAS. Definetely a colorful character. He will be sorely missed

I've spent quite a bit of time with David over the past 20 years helping him move his warbirds back and forth across this counrty. The one thing that I have always been left with with David is what a Gentleman he was. And what a life he led. My condolences to Carol and his children. He will be missed.

The glass has been properly raised for one of the founders of the movement, to whom we all owe so much.

Fair winds and clear skies forever!

Sigh

Such a sad state of affiars. He must have have been one of the most interesting founders of the Warbird movement! Thank you David.

Thank you for saving so many examples of the aircraft we all love. If I had a time machine...

I'd probably do the same things you did.

Blue Skies David.

Blue Skies...

Wish I could have met him. His legacy will live on in the planes he saved. I have a special debt of gratitude as he owned my T-6 for 30 years. Thanks Dave and family for all you've done.

My "warbird" experiences are actually very limited, but I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Tallichet at the Doolittle Raiders Reunion in Columbia, SC several years ago. I didn't know anything at the time - and didn't know what a great opportunity I had, but I did talk to him for maybe 5-10 minutes after he'd flown 7V for some low passes. I was pretty impressed and he was very nice talking to me - even gave me his card afterwards.
One other story - he was pretty upset at one point during the reunion, but for a good reason. The Raiders were being taken on a parade and they were going to put all of the B-25s there up for a formation flight. A friend and I tried to bum rides on the B-25s and the friend actually got the last available seat! (Yes I was just a little jealous...) anyway, Mr. Tallichet was about to take off in 7V when the guy on the go-cart I was riding and I stopped to take pictures and we noticed that 7V was about to have a flat tire on I think the left main gear - we let him know about it and ended up going back to get air for the tire, but he missed the flight - and boy was he bothered not to get to be in that formation to honor the Raiders.
