A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

Dan,
For some reason I'd never read through all the posts on this thread before. ( And I like to think of myself as a dedicated bomber man

)
The workmanship shown really looks top-notch and I will now pay more attention to your posts in future !

Thanks Peter!
Our crew chief Marc is a United captain and flies into Heathrow from LAX once a month or so. His sister lives just north of London. Thank you so much for your interest.

Dan,
I finally got the promised clecos in the mail. You should have than around Friday of Saturday. Also, HQ asked me how I wanted my charitable contribution money to be used, since our group is no longer active with the L2-A. I told them to assign it to the PBJ until further notice. It's not much, but even a little bit should help some. Please let your finance officer know, so they don't wonder where the extra money came from.

Hey! Went to Camarillo to look for you guys and other than a couple of vets had the place all to ourselves. Left you guys a note in the jar.
You guys are doing great work! Keep it up.

Dan, keep those updates coming! There's a possibility that I won't be posting many more B-24 updates in the near future, but either way, everyone here appreciates the work y'all are doing out there and the updates that you're giving us.

You betch! Put it to good use as I know you will. Wish it could be more.
What's up with the blue T-6? Has much work been done in the past year on it? It looks like it could be close to flying but doesn't look different from the last time I saw it. What will the final paint scheme be?

The blue T-6 (actually an SNJ) could be flying in a year. Joe Peppito is crew chief. As to the paint. Blue and something? I don’t know what Joe’s going to do yet. It will be nice to have two flying SNJs. We sure could use a few more A&Ps in the wing. China Doll in particular could use two or three folks we can depend on to keep her in the air. She is a lot of work but worth it. I wish we could rent Gary for a year or two!!!!!

Is the SNJ a CAF aircraft?

Yes Taylor it is CAF. We have never flown her to my knowledge before. She is a full restoration with the swivel seat in the rear.
