I think you might have the first red-cowl T-6 mixed up with the one below it. 32D is Beautiful Brit. Formerly Bob Martin's T-6, sold to Bob Elliot and now with a new owner at Stellar Airpark. I've got about 250 hours in this airplane; very stock and a great candidate for a authentic, ground up, super-stock, award winning restoration. (Not a dig, it's just a good airplane to go all the way with.)

Good to see some pics of my friends!

Super Stock? Do you mean the inside really looks like a WWII T-6? If so, good for you. Especially living at Stellar you don't need ant IFR glass cockpit; maybe an air conditioner. Is there any story behind the name?

Bill,

The interior of 32D was painted gray when I was flying it, and in it. Not sure what Elliot did to it since I have not seen the airplane in many years. (And it's now based just down the road from my house! Hmpf!) It was mostly stock except for a King flip-flop navcom and a transponder.

"Beautiful Brit" was applied for Bob's wife, Jilly. She is a beautiful British lady, and for the most part, likes airplanes!

32D is still very stock. Scotty G. mentioned that is is a candidate for a ground up restoration which is true but all in all, it is still a very nice airplane. Nazy Hirani owns the plane out at Stellar in Chandler, Az and I take care of his planes. He also owns the Staggerwing the was at Prescott and P-51 SU SU. We talked about doing a ground up on the T-6 but he enjoys flying it too much and does not want to have it down for a significant amount of time. The plane is very sound airworthiness wise so what we will do over time is some cosmetic touches during annual inspections and such. The biggest project I'd like to do is rewire the plane and re-do the instrument panels. We also talked about putting some paint on it but right now, he wants to leave it in natural metal finish. Since he's the boss, I just nod my head and agree with him.
