Thanks for the update. Great pictures. Tell the team that they are doing a helluva job in an adverse enviroment. That was one of the best hours I've had in a long time spent looking at those pictures.

Looks like a monumental task ahead. Do they still think she's ferryable?
Or are they disassembling her for airlift?

Those are some great pictures. Looks like things are going really well. I wish you all the best of luck on your recovery.

On a side note, Lodestar CF-TCY which belongs to the Canadian Museum of Flight is going to be moved from Delta Heritage Air Park to Abbotsford to be restored at the University College of the Fraser Valley Aerospace Technical School. I am still unaware of the kind of work that's going to be done on her, but I am thinking it will only be to static display, but clearly, far better than it is now. I'll keep you all posted with this too.

It's still unclear at this time if it will be ferryable or not. Last I heard, the team is supposed to be back soon and the final decision will be taken.

I'll try to post updates as soon as I get some more news from the owner.

Amazing recovery project!

Has the aircraft been retrofitted with a Hudson/Ventura nose? I've never seen a Lodestar with the "bomber style" windows.

That’s good news re: CF-TCY, nice to see it get some attention, after all it was Canada’s “Air Force 1” for a period of time transporting the Prime Minister and various other ministers around. As for a flying restoration, I doubt that will happen since its previous owner sawed off the wings at the fuselage to facilitate moving it.

Do you know if it will go back to Delta Airpark or Langley once it’s restored? If I remember correctly, it ended up at Delta because the museum didn’t or couldn’t get the permits to transport it from Crescent Rd to Langley. There was also some members who want to see at Langley as a gate guard beside the DC-3.

It 'twas a yard of wonder, and I wandered there a few times. Correct my CRS OberG if I stray,
but didn't they have a Gooney bird fuse in the middle or set off to the side of the yard?
I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Lockheed. A Lodestar hull was on the north side
of the field by the power lines just off the lane...I can't remember which lane..might have been a
Dee Howard hull, or??? Musta' been 20 yrs ago...

Indeed, I have just received an invitation from my friend the "owner-crew chief" of this great project. The team is back down south and he is throwing a party at their home base soon.

They will be showing films and photo montages of the operation and will also discuss what's next for CF-CPA. I will have first hand accounts from the team members who were actually there. That should be interresting !

Rest assured, I will keep you guys posted...

Got the official invite tonight. It's October the 20th. and anyone who might be interested in the expedition is invited to meet the crew and watch an audio-visual presentation.

This session will be held in the hangar of Air-Marcel, 1415 Avenue de l’Aéroport, St-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada. Understanding the french language will be quite useful but, there will be people who speak english as well on-site, of course.

If you can't be there with us, watch for the news by then ! I will provide a full report here.

I can also send you the official invite (in french - pdf file) if you ask me by email.
