It may be they removed the 24, and what I am seeing is something else. Is the B29 at a test site? I keep seeing something off in the distance, but it's too far away for me to see clearly...

35°40'37.59"N 117°40'38.60"W is "44-70102 Here's Hopin" in the bone yard by the airfeild.
35°43'57.71"N 117°34'20.82"W looks like a C-130 to me, had several come in for survivability testing.

Is what's left of an SB-29 that some bozo blew up AFTER the moritorium on blowing up B-29's went into effect. Zoomie drivers used to drop cr@p out there all the time when they're weren't supposed to

I've seen it in person...it's a mess. It was used for blast effect testing. The whole port side is dished, big holes cut everywhere. It was suspended in mid air for the blasts and the rigging to lift it was NOT gently installed. It might be good for a part or two. Getting it out will be a HUGE expense IF somebody was able to secure it's release....which isn't likely. Just getting acsess to that area is next to impossible given it's an active EW range.
The base will ask you to take a long walk off a very short pier if asked about it......(or simply deny it exists) and the NHC will slightly less forthcoming.
I know some will claim its "theirs"....no it's not. Get over it. Go stomp your feet somewhere else.

This looks to be one of the B-29's. I think I've seen pictures of it before.

The first photo looks like S/N 44-69957. Are the other two as well? They don't apear to be.

I'm not familliar with China lake and the various ranges.
B-29 44-69957, is on airport lake, north of what looks like the main base.
Any idea where Echo range is? It looks like there could be another 29 there as well.

• Please NOTE that there are no longer any B-29s at China Lake. The B-29 bone yard no longer exists and the aircraft are long gone. Please do not call/write asking to see them, and no, you may not come and get one, nor may you come and look for parts, bits or pieces and you may not come and take pictures. You are however, most welcome to visit the Museum.

Maybe...maybe not. I don't know who wrote that on the website and I don't really care. The point being made IMHO is that there are NO B-29's available to anybody....period, end of discussion. So do NOT call asking to see them, touch them, gets parts from etc. those lucky enough to have visited Echo Bird, Airport Lake and other areas are d@mn lucky to have done so (and even luckier to have pictures....got a photo pass? were those pics cleared through the PAO? if not the black suburbans will be there shortly 
)
If you want to visit the base and see what IS on display (and take all the pics you want around the museum area...) call the museum 760-939-3530. CALL BEFORE ARRIVING so you know what's required to get past the main gate (the security level tends to fluctuate depending on planetary alighnment and what DHS see's on their ouiji board that morning) they have an excellent display on the history of RDT&E at China Lake including a whole section on the Sidewinder. See the aircraft on display outside. Make a donation to help put MORE aircraft on display (a big enough donation will probably get a B-29 on display!)
