Warbird Information Exchange

Doing a dig on South Range, I happened to look up as we were driving in, and there in the distance was the body of a B24. Anyone recognize it? Sorry, no photos and I wasn't allowed to get close enough for a name or number. I'll try again next trip out though.

? What type of B-24 are we talking here a Air Force or Navy ? And is it simi complete ? so many ?'s so little time !

Sorry man. It's Navy property and what I was told was that the Navy flwe it in, trucked it to the ranged, bombed it, and abandoned it. The tail is off it but it is obviously a B24 (Army or NAvy I dunno). It's just to far away for me to make out any details. But according to my source, who I won't name, it is in "pretty good shape considering the tail got blown over the hill when they bombed it,"

We'll never get ahold of it, but it should be recorded somehow.

I do remember a certin B-29 that was saved from China lake. Hopfully I'll see that fly one of these days.

Could be a Privateer also.

Fifi and Doc were both China Lake B-29's. A lot of other B-29's were saved and now static displays around the country.

Sounds like a PB4Y-2 to me.

Sorry, but what you are showing was on the north range. I'm down on the south range. Mind you, it could be it. But there is a bird abandoned on the south range and I was told it was a B24. The one you showed me is taiiless, but...I positively saw my bird yesterday, Sunday, for the last time as we pulled out of the dig. This would be on the ECW range down south.

The only thing that I "heard" south was a B-29 that nobody knows of by some mine.
