Nathan,
I am looking into getting a D80 soon. I tried out a D50 (from a friend) last week.
I loved it. Looks like Nikon is the way to go.

Let us know how this works out for you.
Best Regards,

I think the NIkon and Canon debate is like Ford and Chevy. I think both companies make a great product. That being said Nathan, I am also a Nikon owner.

Great news Nathan. Let me know if you have any questions, I will help if I can.

As for Nikon or Canon they are only as good as the operator and the glass you put on them.

Come on guys this is a warbird site!
How about, I think the Nikon and Canon debate is like Corsair and Mustang.

And Nathan, since he offered, if anybody can help you it is Airic.
Good luck with the new camera.

I upgraded from the D50 to the D80 a few weeks ago. The difference is noticeable. You're going to love it. Play around with the settings a bit and read up on some digital photography forums for some great tips. There is a Nikon specific forum here:

http://www.nikonians.org/

The Nikon/Canon debate will rage on for eternity. It does come down to the glass and most importantly, the shooter. If you give a great camera and lens to a schlub, he'll take crummy pictures. At the same time, I have seen stunning photos from people with small point and shoots. Make us proud, Nathan. :)

Got My Nikon D-80 last summer & love it!! Take's awesome photos, but beware of ordering cameras through the mail.
Most of them are "grey market" goods with no warranty...

I'm saving up for a Nikon 18-200 lens. Apparently it's the "Cat's Meow" for this camera. Here's some 18-200 reviews:

http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/18200.htm

I've been meeting several hot babes at events lately, who are carrying D-80's. It's a great little conversation piece too!!
It's fun to act like a "D-80 expert" while talking with them. I have no friggin' idea how to use it either.
I just set everything on automatic & pretend like I know what I'm doing... Digger
