Not sure if this has been reported yet, but there is a new film being shot about the Red Baron. The CGI I have seen is astonishing. No idea of the film quality, but it's bound to be better than Flyboys judging by what I've seen so far.

If you want to see the video in Hi-Def, you can find it here...

It's a very slow download, but really worth it.

The movie website is here...

Should be a lot of fun. It's being shot by a German company, but in English.

Cheers,
Richard

They would have to work very hard to make it worse than flyboys.

Couldn't agree more... I was trying to portray a little irony in my statement... sort of hard to do in text sometimes though :)

Please do check out the video though... there's a scene where they fire a flare into a blimp which has to be seen to be believed...

Cheers,
Richard

I hope they do this story justice. Long overdue...

IMDB lists its release date as Feb 14, 2008. I hope it makes it over here. It looks pretty cool. The love interest in the movie looks pretty good too

I have been to France and stood on the spot where the Red baron was shot down at and killed.

It was a ridgeline and the area was a small field next to some tress.

There was a photo/board explaining what happened.

So that my bit for the topic :)

I wish the programmers could get the movement of the aircraft right. Straight and level or gentle turns look good, but hard turns, rolls and spins just don't appear right. They also seem tempted to put way too many aircraft in the same piece of sky.
I'd rather see 2 or 3 real a/c (ala Waldo Pepper), than 40 CG a/c zipping around like a cartoon. Just my .02.
