Recently over at one of the Doolittle Raid forums (http://www.doolittleraider.com) there was a discussion of aircraft names. Last week a guy did some screenshots of a take-off clip and came up with some juicy new stuff...

Courtesy of Paul (AKA pmirl at the other forum) here are the shots:

The pictures are apparently of aircraft #13 - the same one that successfully bombed the Japanese aircraft carrier Ryuho in dry dock...

Great find!

The Doolittle Goblets are now being housed at the Air Force Museum (NMUSAF) and are part of a great tribute to these 80 heroes. Unfortunately, many visitors breeze right by worrying about taking pictures rather than reading about the raid.

I spent almost 45 minutes in that area alone a few weeks ago when I visited... for the first time. I was quite emotional when I got to the goblets... it really makes you realize how many of our heroes have left us when you look at something so tangible.

This find is great Ryan, thanks for letting us know!

Ryan,

Glad to hear you took time out to look at the Goblets. I try to let as many visitors possible that they are now housed in the WWII area of the museum.

Hope you managed to look closely at some of the other exhibits as well.

I was thrilled when I heard the goblets were coming to Dayton. I've visited the Museum two or three times since then, and always make time to pay my respects. Sadly, another has been turned over since my last visit.
