That is so sad, and it just looks worse and worse everytime I see them. If they aren't going to do anything, the CAF should give those planes to someone who will.

Would you just donate a Warbird of that price? Even still the condition that shes in, that B-23 is a rare bomber to behold.

I always like to think that one of these groups will eventually be able to create the "Bombers Flight"

B-17
B-24
B-29
B-25
B-26
B-23

But id say the first person to collect all of these (Besides the USAFM) would be Kermit Weeks. Hes actually got all of em. Just that the B-29, B-17E and B-23 are in a million pieces. And the B-24, B-26, and B-17G need to be overhauled to get flying again. But heck at least the 25 is up!

I'll bet if the right offer came up the CAF might be willing to part with some of them but as has already been said, even in their current condition, there is substantial value to these aircraft due to their rarity. They are still trying to sell tha CASA (109) on Courtesy but there have been no takers. So unless someone is ready to pony up the cash, then they will continue to sit. I bought a Mauler canopy on Barnstormers a few years ago in the event someone decided to take on those projects but so far, it's still hanging in my living room. I saw they already have one in their parts room though. The Arizona Wing has an AF2S Guardian assigned to them but it still sits as a static display because there is not enough interest and money to restore it to flying condition. It just seems that if it's not a prominent recognizable warbird, then it is very tough to justify the cost of putting one of the less famous ones back in the air. One of the contributors here has a great by-line about how he's seen airframes destroyed by the words static display. I agree. Restore the planes to fly but understand that the financial commitment that it would take to do the job properly is beyond the reach of most groups and the individuals who do have the finances already have their P-51 or other "desirable" warbird. I would love to see these aircraft back in the air, even the AT-11 on orphan row as I call it would be pretty cool in the air. Even though I've had some issues with the CAF, remember that as long as the planes are still there, then they can be restored when the time, money and interest all come together.
