Gee, this reminds me of Morgan's P-51G. All of my life I have heard first one then another Fw-190 being rebuilt to fly. Champlins Fw-190D being the most tantalizing as they even had photos of it doing engine runs. Of course years later we find out it had the wrong wings on it, parts missing from it's supercaharger and propellor mechanisms and was never really a "flyable" Fw-190.
Almost aas long, there was the Fw-190 at Kissimmee, and other A's around the globe being restored to original conditon. None of these have ever been finished and flown as of today September 9th 2007.
The flugwerk airplanes are sold as kits without the engine, wiring harnesses, ezhausts, avionics, oxygen systems and other items that take time and money to source. The Yaks were pretty much ready to go needing mainly assembly from their shipping crates.
Before criticizing Flugwerk, my suggestion would have been to ship the wings or whatever of the original FW-190 to Flugwerks and have them rebuild as they have done some of their Me-109 projects. Those owners seem to be happy about the end result.
Before buying any new production parts, a conversation should have occured regarding the interchangeability of the old and the new. This is an age old problem with original and replica airplanes, autos, etc.
