Donated by Connie Edwards to the EAA. As you already know, the EAA doesn't keep warbirds airworthy anymore (other than AO), so to get her back in the air you'd first have to convince the EAA to let her go.
I'm quite sure Major Bong never flew this example (or wasn't that the question?).

Yeah, that was phase two of the question. The aircraft looks so pristine that without major hidden corrosion etc., I'd think that it could be made airworthy much easier than a crash salvage or "Glacier Girl" type restoration.
Am I wrong or will the museums in posession of these as well as many other aircraft just not part with them?

My Uncle was a crew chief on P-38's at Zamboanga too. I don't know the name of the pilot.
