Warbird Information Exchange

Here's a quick look at some of the photos I took at this year's Indy Airshow, at Mount Comfort, Indiana. Saturday, the clouds were low, so the Blue Angels couldn't do a high-show, nor could the Red Bull MiG-17. Sunday, it was severe-clear, and a gorgeous day for an airshow. The way the show is set up in Indy is: All of the warbirds (fighters, bombers, trainers, and liasons) all take off, and each group stacks up above the field and orbits until the group at hand is done and recovers, and the elements drop down to do their low passes. In a nutshell, all of the warbirds are circling above the airport the whole time, and it makes for a great show!

Nobody wants to hear me ramble on, so check out my shots below, I've photoshopped most if not all of them, but I hope you like them!

And the warbird show, a great surprise came Saturday morning when Ed Lindsay showed up from Sarasota in his Cavalier Mustang!

Looks like the CAF fixed the Ju52. Good news.

Nicely done, Trey! Is it just me, or does the Cavalier Mustang not look right with wing tanks?

Does anyone know if that Cavalier Mustang is a real FAS veteran of the Soccer War, or a tribute to the type? Either way, it's neat to see it painted up in those colors.

Cool shots. None of Ol 927 in the air?

We were there on saturday. I'll post some pics after I go through them. I have tons of Ol' 927. AND, Sean, Mikey, my Dad and myself took a flight in the ol' girl. So cool! I will never forget that and special thanks to T.A and Becky of the CAF for setting it up!

No....no "Hot Stuff"....I believe she has a siezed engine, hope I am wrong...But, there should be another PV taking to the air next week????...Gary

Oh yeah I remebered that now I think you are right Gary. That is a reall bummer for that organization. Hopefully not too expensive.

THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN

Ed Lindsay, the owner of the Cavalier N51DL, is the son of the founder/president of Cavalier David Lindsay.

The airplane is the prototype Cavalier Mustang II, and was the company demonstrator for the type (it used to be registered N4222A, which you can see in numerous old photos of Cavalier Mustangs). It is not one of the FAS aircraft.

The airplane actually has some very interesting pre-Cavalier history, too, having been an NACA test aircraft.

Hot strafe? As in, bullets were shot out of the guns and impacted the ground??

Sorry, photobucket is blocked here in Afghanistan, so I can't see the photos...

Yup...No.1 engine siezed up on July 12. Expensive...of course. But, we will take to the air again soon. Flying in a PV-2...Priceless.
It was hard to see everyone else start up and fly while "Hot Stuff" was on static, but it was great to see "Old 927" and give some of the crew a Jeep ride to breifing and to see the Ju52 back in the air.
