OK guys, you've all impressed me with your knowledge and contacts, so... I need help finding a suitable airplane to hang in the new Commemorative Center at CAF Headquarters in Midland. In a post two years ago I asked for some leads for full-sized replicas, which led me to Tallichet's stuff. However, the space now available for the airplane is too small for a full-sized mock-up, which is what he has. Does anybody know of somebody with a Stewart Mustang, or Thunder Mustang, or Spitfire, Zero, etc, that we could get for a reasonable sum? The WAR replicas don't look right, nor does the Loehle 5151 so scratch them...Max wing span would be about 25 feet....it will be hanging up so I don't need the landing gear.
We've got money in hand, and there are potential tax benefits as well. If you know of something that might work, let me know either here or via PM.

spitfirespares.co.uk due to full size spitfire with a totally fitted out cockpit. the price is however a bit steep.
you might want to talk to museums to let you loan you a bird for display.. many have at least a few in their reserve collection.

A full size Spitfire replica is a third too large, a Mk IX has a 36' 10" wingspan. So it needs to be not more than 67%, really a little smaller say 5/8 scale so there is room to clear each side. I really enjoy looking at the replicas, but have never flown one. A Zero would look good and the CAF has a long history with it. Also a 51. Had we known about this at Sun N Fun it may have been easier to find one, there seem to be a lot of these in Florida. I like the idea.

Titan Aircraft has a 3/4 Mustang that looks quite good from a few feet away.
