There was a thing LBJ referred to at the Gulf of Tonkin, and a good ole boy like that woudn't lie to us would he? Do you have the casualty figures from that Tonkin Battle; I seem to have mislaid them? I'm tired of writing about this, think I'll get back to playing with airplanes.

I hope you didn't misunderstand what I was trying to say. We were attacked by the Japanese and wanted a decisive victory. Some type of finality.
My comment about VietNam was intended to mean basically what you have written here.
