I wondering what they general concensus was.

Do you think classic not active type Helos will become more previlant on the Warbird scene as time goes by?

One of my biggest wishes is to see a HH-3 "Jolly Green Giant" Warbird at an airshow being escorted by a couple of "Sandys" to simulated a downed pilot extraction.

I don't know if any HH-3 are currently flying in Mil-Spec paint or not. But I have seen one flying in the Hills of West "By Gawd" Virginia. It seemed to be bright colors, almost rainbow paint scheme and they using it to clear logs from the mountains.

Anyways, anybody know of any HH-3s or any other non-Huey or Cobra Helos being restored to flights as Warbirds?

In the post 9/11 world I do not think any more AH's will be released to fly. I know there was extensive demilling to the one in our museum. The ones out there kind of "snuck out" (legally), but from what I know, those loop holes are closed.

Operating Hueys, I can only imagine what Jolly Greens run to operate.

When I win the lottery, you'll see the CH-53 and the AD at nearly every airshow.

Last year at AIRSHO they had a Viet Nam pilot rescue recreation using: Sandy's, O2, OV1, AH1 and Huey. It was a big hit and I believe they ar bringing them back again this year. Oh ya, plenty o' pyro as well.

Very cool.

You would think that with the Navy recently retiring all of their CH-46 Sea Knights theat they would find excellant work in the civilian sector.

Of course they maybe being used as a parts source the for remaining Marine 46 squadrons, awaiting replacement by the MV-22.

Anybody know if helo airframe life is measured the same as fixed-wing?

Also regarding the 53s I thought a lot of the earlier types were sitting in DM.

Helo times are measured the same as fixed ing, there is just a whole lot more parts that are time limited. Almost everypart on a helo is time limited.

Now a ultimate helo warbird show would be good

Seaking and Frogs flying around doing ASW and feeding runs

Hueys and OH-6 doing troops runs

Oh-6s and Cobras doing strikes

HH-53C aka any CH-53 and some real A-1Js would make a fine CSAR vietnam era

Bell 47 Mashs dust offs with a UH-1D/H Dustoff flying around

H-34 USN and USMC doing stuff

Would make a great airshow so when can we see it :)?

These (hopefully) will show photos of our H-34

http://us.f838.mail.yahoo.com/ym/ShowLe ... &box=Inbox

they, along with another H-34 not shown sits in an otherwise unused portion of our "boneyard". Areonca Champ (nearly done, in bogus L16 camo), ercoupe, (needs interior and paint), Hall Buldog (flying replica under construction), SEVERAL Luscombes (10??) in parts, LOTS of misc parts antiques/classic, Interstate Cadet and Piper navy ambulance (complete). Somewhere in California.

I have buddy up in the Reno area restoring a Cobra to fly. What model I'm not sure, also John Harrah in Reno had an H-3E for a while, I don't know what he did with it though.
