number 2 would be a Kyushu J7W1 Shinden, 18 cyl. 2130hp, 466mph at 28,545 ft
4-30mm cannons

Sounds like it could have been one heck of a fighter, if the Japanese had been able to properly test it and put it into production with decent materials, and had decent pilots to fly it.

The NASM has one, or atleast part of one.
The NASM's Shinden is the 1st prototype depicted below. This one is probalbly not the NASMs considering it's outward condition. Sadly it was probalbly scrapped.

Looks like NEAM's old George that John Popeki and his dad were restoring in Burlington, VT back in the 1980's. It's now at the Naval Aviation Museum.

Boy, thanks for posting Armyjunk. Never enough Japanese photos to be had. Anyone know what the twin engine flying boat is?

that one is the nasm one,the only other one completed was destroyed in a bombing raid before the end of the war before it flew.
the small twin engined fly boat was used as an advanced trainer before moving on to the bigger 4 engined boats like mavice and emily(i cant remember the model code or allied code name.
paul
if only more of these aircraft were saved
the small flying boat is an aichi h9a
it doesnt seem to have an allied code name

These photographs come from Captured Enemy Equipment file at the National Archives, all photos are taken after the equipment was in our hands, by looking at all the pictures I would say some are test evaluation, lots are just the troops having some fun flying enemy airplanes....In November I plan on going back and recopy lots of the pictures as I was just learning to use the new digital camera.......Props were also supposed to be removed, no one wanted a last minute Kamikaze attack....
