Dont worry, I wouldnt call it a mistake, just a nice surprise  It is interesting to see the similarities between the Panther and Tomcat anyway.

Great pics. Thanks again for sharing. 8)

interesting how the rear seater in the 2 man cougar has an inner wind screen in the event of a canopy blow off or ejection situation.

I look at these photos of a great aircraft company and look what they were able to do and in the shortest amount of time. If the company's and management of today were running the aircraft industry during WW2, the first hellcat and mustang would have flown in about 1950 and entered squadron strength in 1960.

These posts are sooooo neat !

At last, we can see these aircraft in their proper context, not only at a museum.

Thanks for sharing them !

What leads you to this conclusion? Do you have any conclusions with respect to the government contracting requirements that have been put in place since then? How about the compexity of the aircraft now compared to that of WW2? Surely you don't expect the F-22 to be designed and rolled out within 100 days like they did with the Mustang?

Actually - they're F9F COUGARS, not Panthers. But that's okay, I love the photos - the swept-wing Cougar is one of my all time favorites among vintage jet fighters from the 50s. Thanks for sharing.
