For the aircraft side of things, I think we are to the point where they could all be computer generated and look pretty realistic. They just have to be animated so they don't look like they have the performance of the Millennium Falcon (Pearl Harbor...)

I seem to remember thinking Robert Blake would be good in the role if he could lose the 'dese and dose' NY accent.
This, of course, was before he turned out to be a wackjob.
