The other night I was watching the Classic It a Mad Mad World ! And was amused at the Jenny that Sid Ceaser was being flown in. The ? is how many are still flying today of for that matter how many are still around ?

FHC flew theirs last week at the NWEAA fly-in . Both Sat and Sun.

Skeeter Carlson in Spokane has an airworthy JN-4 CAN Canuck that last flew two years ago... C1122.

the Standard that was used in Waldo Pepper movie sat in one of our hangars in Exeter, Calif. for several months, but this is going back maybe ten years. IIRC it belonged to Ernie Freeman and may reside now with his son Roger, down in Texas, where he has a WWI aerodrome/flying collection. Roger also built the USAF Museum's Fok. Dr1 triplane. as I'm thinking about this, he may have a Canuck as well.

There is also a flying Jenny at Freemans strip near San Antonio.

I think the J-1 Standard at Creve Coeur is the same one that was used in The Great Waldo Pepper, It's A Mad, Mad, World, The Rocketier, Ace Eli, and countless TV shows and commercials. I could be wrong on some of this. That J-1 was used for so much film work, I'm not sure if any one person really knows for sure. Albert

There's also Frank Schelling's lovely Hisso-engined JN-4H at Schellville in Sonoma. He's entered it in 4 contests (Oshkosh, Rolls-Royce Heritage Trophy at Reno, Merced and Watsonville) and won the top award at each.

The Jenny is so darn attractive for some reason. Just a cute plane. I would LOVE to see some of them at Geneseo next year.

We have a JN-4D at crystal lakes, serial no. 400. Still airworthy.

There's a 1918 Curtiss JN-4D, sn: 3793 registered registered as C-GDCX to John Johnston of Edmonton Alberta. Does anyone have any details or photos of this one?

I did scale drawings of JN-4D Can. "Canuck" which appeared in Model Builder, years ago. Specifically they depict the Canuck owned and operated by Neta Snook Southern. She gave AE her first dual instruction in this aircraft.

Canucks, AFAIK, are the only production a/c to feature finger jointed spars, with individual segments being 24"-30" in length.

IMHO, Canuck appears to a real improvement over JN-3, while the American JN-4D...?????? Comments/correction???

The Hisso Jenny looks outstanding!
