I've seen this done at dragstrips. They like to do a burnout to get the tires sticky for better traction.

Some poor dumb airedale's BAD DAY.
Note the deck crew jumping out of his skivvies!
Probably a fuel pressure relief valve stuck open and it dumped fuel somewhere HOT. We had it happen on the PROVOST, but fortunately Chief Mechanic Elkins waved us off. A GOOD thing too. We had nary a camera handy!

This wasin the mid/late 80s has I remember reading about it in

What's the timing of the ejection sequence on the A-6? The seats must have fired an instant after the shutter clicked.

USS Independence CV-62 (Maybe?)

I'd say that's a A-6E not a KA-6D wrong modex and no fuselage band.
Station 4 looks to have a MK-83 on it.
