Maybe they can do another break neck speed job on her too, like they did on that 38?

If they had that P-40 running by the 08 show, how many aircraft could they have go? 2 P-40's? 1-P-38

Yeah, the Thurman one passed to Tom Blair some time ago, too, and is now in the apparently obligatory AVG markings (there doesn't seem to be a restored P-40 on this continent that hasn't worn Flying Tigers finish at least once!)...the paint scheme matters not, of course, love to see any or all of these at Gennie...

Not really much point in speculating over it. It takes a long time and a lot of patience to achieve the level of detail and authenticity that Erik and company strive for...a lot more than year! Keep in mind that the P-38 was not a ground up restoration. It really was an IRAN to get the airplane back up to airworthy standards. To do a full blown, authentic nut and bolt restoration on a P-38 would take multiple years. At some point it may be in the cards for that airplane...but for now, just enjoy another flyable P-38.

Ron has a flyable P-51, P-40 and P-38...not a bad toybox if must say so myself!

I know some P-39 stuff came with all the P-40 projects he bought from Kenny Hake. Not sure what the future holds for it though.

P-47? Nothing on the horizon that I am aware of but you never know what's rolling around in the back of a guys mind. Ron has a serious love affair going on with the hot water 12's. Might be a hard habit to break. The Helldiver project shows there is hope though!

I don't think P-47's are allowed to land at Geneseo, are they? Something about insurence?

Maybe for a specific plane with a tight ass insurance carrier. Taildraggers were made for grass strips. I can understand not having certain tricycle gear planes land on the field, but any taildragger can land on a grass strip. I might be wrong, but I really can't see a T-bolt being that delicate that a grass strip may cause damage. The only concern in my mind would really be sinking into a soft field since they're so heavy.

Im still quite curious about what kind of budget the 1941 HAG has to play with. Like I stated before, is it possible to have the Tora Tora act return? Since they were such an impact at the first shows we would need them to return and fight off the P-40 squadron!

Would anyone else want to see the Tora act return to New England?

Book the right airplanes, and the rest will come...

Tora, Tora, Tora group used to come to Elmira. Ya it would be nice to see. But you could save money since there is already some Tora, Tora, aircraft in the area. Heck last weekend saw one Val and a Kate from Tora, Tora, Tora. But they are from private owners and not from the CAF group. Could use them......?

Ya, it would be nice to see a P-47 at the field. "Jacky's Revenge" would be the closest I think.

Shouldn't be any issues with operating a Jug from Geneseo. I know of two Jugs, at least, that have been at shows there back in the day: Ray Stutsman's razorback G "Little Demon" in 1986, and Charles Osborn's D bubbletop "Big Ass Bird II" in 1992 (which BTW was one of the last-ever airshow appearances for the late lamented CWH Hurricane).

Dreaming out loud: reactivate K'zoo's pink P-40N for a year. And how near being complete is that V1710-powered newbuild Fw190D??

I don't think the Air Zoo's P-40 would happen, as it's suspended in the lobby if the new museum! (Unfortunately)

The only Tora aircraft i know of, in private hands right now (and in the area) is the Olympic Flight Museum's Zero, Ken Laird's freakin amazing Val!, (can you see I have a thing for those replica Vals) And the Dixie Wing's Zero and Kate.

Interesting, seeing "The Green Menance" a.k.a A1-313 by itself is new to me!

I have only seen that aircraft with the full team.

K'zoo Kid--

Yep, I know the pink P-40 is suspended inside the new KAHM building (is it still being "flown" by a replica of Sue P?)...that was why I put that idea in the "dreaming out loud" category.

Here's what KAHM oughta do (assuming they were to opt to revive a flying program). Swap out the P-40 for one of the Tallichet GRP replicas (painted exactly like N222SU, of course), thus having their cake and eating it too; the iconic pink Hawk would still greet every KAHM visitor in the museum lobby, but one of the most-missed Warbirds on the circuit could finally reappear. (And for the record...I like the pink on that airplane. Always did. So unique...)

Hi again--

Forgot to mention, Gennie 08 was being discussed on another forum and after I mentioned the local maker connection with Bell's P-39s/63s as well as Curtiss' P-40s, someone replied that of course Curtiss also built P-47s. One G model is still flying in the USA...so there's another machine to invite: PoF's Jug "Spirit of Atlantic City NJ", and of course one would then invite their P-40N as well...

Chris;
Unless he sold it recently, Skip Rawson has Gene Fisher's old Tora Kate with the green squiggle paint on it. It was used as the camera ship Kate in the film "Pearl Harbor".
As a matter of fact, it's also the Kate on the film poster. You can tell because the poster artist used a still shot of the Kate taken when the camera was strapped on the belly, behind the torpedo. It is very clear in the poster that the strange fitting behind the torpedo's fins, shouldn't really be there.
