Something doesn't look right about this... almost like the Badger and Phantoms were added in later. The carrier is in sharp focus, as is the water and rest of the background, but the aircraft are a bit blurry... sure, it could happen, but the lighting looks a bit off too.

I can't say with absolute certainty this has been manipulated, but it seems to be a little "off".

That is a legitimate incident. It occurred in 1963 when F-4Bs from VF-114 deployed off of CVA-63 intercepted the Badger.

Is it just me, or does the Badger look like a combination of the B-26, B-17 and B-47? All in all, a pretty sweet looking aircraft.

yep it happened in 63, nope, not that close to the carrier, easy to see the manipulation.
