I'm part of the crew working with Mr. Pemberton and his family on the aircraft (don't be too impressed, I only do unskilled work

).
Here's an update: after spending about 1000 hours covering and finishing the wings they should be installed early October.
The engine is already fitted (replacing a gutless case that was mounted on the airframe to help with the construction of the cowling and oil/fuel lines.

Addison hopes to start taxi tests by late October.

To give you some idea as to the size and scope of this project.....the exhaust extension from the horse collar (it ends back near the open cockpit) is some 17 - 18 feet long!

it was just featured in the last issue of air classics magazine. salvaged off a mountain where it layed 70 years!! the restoration took 8 years & is now the oldest flying boeing product!!

Hey All,

Thanks for all the kind words about the airplane. We're really excited to see it done and flying and so far we've had virtually no problems with her. To our great surprise it is actually a decent flying airplane! Anyway, to let you all know we are taking it to OSH as you saw above, and then we'll take it to the Blakesburg and Broadhead antique fly-ins. After that we plan on recreating the Transcontinental airmail route from New York to San Fransico this fall. Next summer we plan on spending a lot of time on the West Coast with it, recreating it's original route (CAM 8) from Seattle to San Diego as well as hitting all the major West Coast flyins. If you have any questions feel free, I should be able to answer anything you've got!

Congrats to you and the group for your Oshkosh presence and award - very well deserved! Was also great to run into you at Yankton, SD - a very pleasant surprise!
