I am interested to find out more about a US Navy officer, Lt. Munson, who was in Fiji in 1942 and was attached to No. 5 (General Reconnaissance) Squadron, Royal New Zealand Air Force.
Munson was a flying boat pilot, and became a captain abord No. 5 Squadron's Short Singapore III fling boats for a couple of months from about late January 1942.
Does anyone know more about this chap, such as first name(s), which unit he was with before his RNZAF attachment, and when he left 5 Squadron RNZAF. And where was he posted to after that point?
I wonder if he is still alive. He is quite possibly the only American to ever fly the lovely old Short Singapore flying boats.
I don't know anything about how to go about researching American servicemen's histories, so any suggestions are very welcome, thanks.
