Ed Harris. I always laugh about Alec Baldwin as Doolittle...I think Doolittle would too, saying "I Never Had So Much Hair In My Life". :D

If you want to talk about what American character Alec Baldwin should play I say George Washington.

But who could Baldwin portray from WWII? I know theirs somebody out there!

Sorry but I am not seeing it. Doolittle was very fit and not nearly as short as Devito. Doolittle may have been short but he had a strong presence, was cocky, and a former boxer.

Sadly it seems like everything moves in waves. I believe Hollywood saw a war-movie revival with Saving Private Ryan and Thin Red Line which came out about the same time.

Then we just saw a bunch of newer war movies come out ranging from our earliest aerial encounter,(Flyboys) to more recent combat situations.(Black Hawk Down, Behind Enemy Lines)

I think that war movies overall might be slowing down and may possibly just stop coming out altogether due to lack of interest by the public. Now just remember that this is just a thought I had but even if this was true it doesn’t mean the end.

This is true about anything I believe. "What was once cool will be cool eventually again". So it’s just a matter of time until the resurrection of these movies. I believe though this time around, the filmmakers will not skimp on authenticity.

When I make my millions and become a filmmaker, ill do it justice. And you can bet there will be plenty of aircraft in every shot! Maybe even more than Battle of Britain!

What do you guys think? Ideas, predictions, comments?

I think the reason for the slow down is the relative poor quality of the movies. All it going to take another Amblin/Playtone produced quality flick to roll in a half a billion in revenue for Hollywood to roll in and ride on the coat tales. While there were some decent quality movies out such as "Sands of Iwo Jima" the movie lacked quite a bit. The new "The Pacific War" project from HBO will be a good one. I also am involved with another upcoming project that will be of the quality of "Saving Private Ryan" and will involve a great deal of WWII aviation. There are projects out there that will be worth seeing.

I think the best actor for the role would be Stanley Tucci

Go ahead, google him up

Besides the height difference, he looks the closest to Doolittle.

Bruce Willis? :?

When I want someone to be protrayed I want an actor that was as respectful as the person they are portraying. I do not want an actor that has been a druggy, sex adict, or whatever to portray someone that was important and respectful in life. It just wouldn't be right. IMHO.

I guess what I am trying to get at is it would be important that the actor realize the importance of the person they are portraying and not look at it as another million to their estate.
