Warbird Information Exchange

I finally made it back to South Carolina after five days in Washington. The airshow was fun as it usually is but the weather didn't cooperate with us at all! Roughly thirty other planes had to cancel because of the weather.

Lots of drinking, lots of flying, lots of 4AM phone calls to tell people how much fun we were having. One very angry housekeeper at the hotel, I only embarrassed myself 6, maybe 10 times.....apologies were made, one person slightly damaged by an ATV (lord that was funny) one rental car in possible need of a new tire. The Collings foundation took several of our volunteers for rides and it was very much appreciated. We enjoyed the company of seven friends from the British Aviation Enthusiast Society who had organized their seventh trip to our museum. They ended up riding in just about every airplane and helicopter we have. The Cascade Warbirds were out and supported us as they always do, along with the Heritage Flight Museum.

Great post......sounds like a fun time.....the stories harkened back to Breckenridge and all the late night running around and hijinks that used to go on at that show at all times of the day and night....man how I miss it...


Collings bombers arrive in my neck of the woods early July....

Step 1) Find ground sloping away from subject aircraft
Step 2)Lay down with camera well protected
Step 3)Roll down hill until proper distance from subject
Step 4)Pause while dizziness subsides
Step 5)Prop up on elbows and take picture
Step 6) option 1) roll back up hill, this is difficult
option 2)Get up and walk up hill, this is easiest
Step 7)Brush grass off cloths
Step Resume looking professional

Where is Stephanie? We offered you a ride in the P-51 and you never came out to the airport Saturday. Forget what Brad was drinking Friday night. I just met him too.

Thanks for posting the pics Brad. Its too bad we couldn't make it down for the show. When we woke up on Friday it was pouring rain here and our fearless leader decided he didn't want to sit in the rain all weekend. Hopefully we'll catch up somewhere else on the circuit this summer.
