And I thought that some of the paint jobs they used on the "Join Up" Bombers were crazy! I can honestly say that is the scariest plane paint job I have ever seen.

Just Kidding. I like them all. I like them raw metal polish, dim, painted, rusty. I just say as long as you could fly it and show it, it wouldn't matter to me what colors it would be in, just as long as it contributed to the historical preservation and teaching youngers about her and the men who flew her.

As its "MY" B-17, I would intend to repaint it every 5 years into a new scheme ~ so as to honour as many crews and their heroic deeds as possible.

I'm assuming it's a B-17G ~ so I discounted all the earlier schemes from my list. That left me with two immediate ideas .....

"Little Miss Mischief", as it testimony to the dedication and hard work of the ground crews in taking battle damaged aircraft and putting them back in the air. It would be appropriate too, if my B-17 was a basket case restoration, using parts from several different aircraft. I'm sure the media would be out there at every tour stop, asking why did you paint it like that ? And yes, I will be selling rides with it

"2nd Patches" of the 99th BG would in the running. The 15th AF is not well represented amongst todays airworthy B-17's, time to put that right.

Me - The less paint the better

If I had a B-17F, I would paint it to look like the B-17F "Dragon Lady" SN 42-30836 that flew for the 385th BG, 8AF. The original aircraft was lost over Pas de Calais on 13 February 1944.
