If you are interested in Spit acro, go read my posts under Planning A Trip To Europe. Twice I tried to write it as a new topic and both times I missplaced it. A Spitfire is a lot truer than a computer!

Thanks Bill.

I just checked the thread.

Maybe one of the mods can get the post moved here for further discussion!

Cheers

Bill,

Do you ever spin your ship? If so, does it have any unusual characteristics? Does a heavy passenger make any difference?

Bill,

Geneseo is less than a month away! How do things look for you to come on down?

Yes, I have done a couple of spins in my plane. I had not for years, even though the manual says it is aproved ok. I was not so sure about the 2 seat version. I asked Alex Henshaw, and he had not tested the 2 seater, but he asked another test pilot and gave me a go ahead. 2 years ago at EAA after the show I climbed to 10,000 and did a couple. It takes a while to make it stall, but just as it did I used full left rudder and it defintely spins. I was prepared for the yaw, but it first rolls a lot and drops the nose. Recovery was prompt, but by the time I out of the dive I probably lost over one thousand feet. I would not want to do this down low, especially if unplanned.

I am a little superstiotous ( alsow kant spel two gud), so I hate to say too much, but yes I am hoping for Geneseo. I took my plane over to Loveland (FNL) for Ray to do a 35 hour oil change and mini service before departing north. If we can keep Super Wrench out of the pubs and he doesn't find any major problems I am hopeful. I have gotten the sectionals out and taken a look at the route. It looks like two 400 nm legs the first day will bring me south of Chicago and then 1 long and 1 short the next day. I'll likely take my drop tank and try to find somewhere enroute to leave it either at the 2nd or 3rd stop; somehere that I can pick it up on the way back to Oshkosh. I hate to jinx myself, if you get every thing planned out, you still have weather to deal with. Not only ot leave the tank, but I need to find somewhere good one stop before Gen. to wash the plane, so I can arrive there with it looking good and not have to prevail upon them there. It and probably me will definetly need abath after a cros country. I usually do it at Fon du Lac before going up to EAA. I used to go to Wings show in Minnapolis. I asked them if I could wash the plane, then I came out early the next morn and they had already done it for me. Much appreciated service!!!!!!

Mr. Greenwood,

I don't know how far out of the way I would be for you, but I would be happy to store your fuel tank and help detail your aircraft at our facility (Rice Lake Air Center) at Rice Lake Regional (KRPD) in Wisconsin.

We are not too far across the river from the Twin Cities, on the opposite side of Wisconsin from Oshkosh.

Just an offer I am happy to extend...

Steve

Thanks for the offer Steve, but I need to leave it on the east side toward N Y.

You can leave the tank either at my hanger (KLOT) or Jim Read's (KVPZ).
