Can we see more of Sabre jet working and her treatment more often you have done great photos, and to me a Sabre nut - der check my name - ive seen photos that i have never seen before.. in 60years of sabre operations

If your this good at Sabre you must keep us informed when you do more warbird repairs etc you are a clever man/team

Well that settles it I guess. I'll post more maint as it comes due. I'm going to say thanks first to Gary Austin as reading and following his work lead me to post this thread. Thanks also to all the WIX members who have followed through the annual. I'm not quite done yet though, so stay tuned to see the Sabre airborne. Tomorrow we'll do the high power engine runs and then it's back to the hangar to open a few things back up to take one more look. We'll need to wait until we fill it full of fuel to set the strut height and do a few more checks before the test flight. I'm going to borrow a digital camera to catch the flight and post here for all to see.

Engine power runs completed this morning as well as a high speed taxi. All checks good so far. We'll go over the airplane one more time Monday night to do final servicing and checks. Plan on test flight Tuesday morning. Here's a few photos from the engine run.

I imagine the Sabre has to be a blast to fly...especially since, from the cockpit, it almost appears as if there is no plane in front of you.

Sorry Vlado, that's not Jimmy but is Tom who's been working with me on this project. Jim's been kind of my consultant by checking up on me and giving me things to make sure and check. Here's the only picture I think I caught him in. He's the one in the bluejeans I think. Will we see you up here in Waukegan Sept 8 with your beautiful P51?





We're not sure what we'll do exactly for painting. We're going to change the paint scheme a bit and hopefully before Oshkosh. I'll leave that one a little mystery until we get the paintwork done.

Hey David, can we suggest schemes for the jet? I'd like to see this Sabre, it's different, mixing things up a bit.

Hi Trey,
We're going to keep the checkerboard tail and yellow bands on the wings and fuselage. We don't have any plans for a full repaint for a while that I'm aware of. I will be redoing some of the paint as we fly the airplane through the summer. The plans are to change the markings a little bit to spruce it up a bit.

Sorry Mustandgdriver, we're not going to replicate a particuliar paint scheme 100%. It will be an authentic scheme but not everything changed such as our FU-986 number. What we plan on doing will in my opinion give our airplane its own identity.
