It's been a long time, too long, since I've attended an airshow. About 10 years since the closest thing then, Sky Parade in Jackson, Ms. (toward its demise, a real loser of a joke) & just over 25 since the CAF's big Airsho. I've been wondering, with all of the Korean & Vietnam vintage a/c on the airshow circuits now, are any of those era dogfights being re-enacted? Like a Sea Fury downing a MiG-15 (or 17 since I know they're out there & is sort of a MiG-15)? What about a Mustang against a Yak? Or was that a Twin Mustang? Hmm. Mustang downing an Me 262? Surely we have an F-4 going against a MiG-17 or -21 or an F-86 going against a MiG-15 or -17. How about the MiG-killing Skyraider downing a MiG-17? I'm hoping to have my workload under control so I can at least do Midland & maybe Wings over Houston this year. I've been wondering about these newer dogfights.

A couple years ago at the annual Offutt AFB airshow there was a mock duel between a Mig 17 and a Sabre. Pretty cool. I have heard they get together fairly often on the circuit.

I have pics somewhere. Not good but they are pics

Let me see what I can dig up.

Any others have info?

Eric

POF did a Mig15, P80, F86 tail chase at Chino a couple of weeks ago.

Not a dogfight, but we do FAC SAR/Sandy routines with O1/O2's helos and AD's. We got a good one in the works for Thunder over Michigan!

It would be almost impossible to keep an F-4-Mig 21 dogfight scenario in front of the crowd.

One show wanted us to fly with a Mig 17 but when I saw the workup it really became the pair makes a tail chase pass, the F-4 goes up on a perch while the Mig does aerobatics, repeat about 4 times. We didn't think it the best use of the Phantom and certainly no way to showcase the Phantom. I pointed this out to the show organizer and they agreed, we wound up doing our normal routine.

I love the F-4 that The Collings Foundation flies. It is one sweet ride.
