Warbird Information Exchange

Hello all. I was in Wichita last week for Beechjet maintenance training, and I got a chance to briefly drop in at the Kansas Av. Museum on Friday. Just so happens the B-47E (S/N 51-2387) from Oklahoma City fairgrounds had arrived the day before. Looks pretty rough. Wings had to be cut, but the cut was clean. Also got a look at Doc (B-29 S/N 44-69972) from behind a small fence. Looks really good, but a shame to see it outside. I wish I had the $$$$$$ to get it inside!

They also have several other aircraft outside, such as Vietnam vets B-52D (55-0094) & Super SkyMaster (67-21469), a KC-135E (56-3658), a F-84, and a T-33. Also a Lear 23 (s/n 6), a Beech Starship, ex-FedEx 727, and ex-SouthWest 737. Pretty neat museum located in Wichita's first airport terminal building. I'll try and post some pictures when I get a photobucket account.

Hey Todd...just a little drive east of you is the Grissom Air Museum (south of Peru on highway 31). We have a lovely B-47 on display along with several other rare and lovely aircraft. I am trying diligently to figure out how to start a photobucket account and post pics here myself as I have a ton from Grissom as well as several airshows throughout the years.

Stop in at Grissom sometime...well worth the drive for ya

6trn, been to Grissom a few times, but not lately. You're right, definately worth the drive! I believe the B-25 there is a Catch 22 star. I'll have to head over there again soon! -Todd

Hmmm,
The flightsafety Raytheon (Hawker Beechcraft) Maintenance training center. I know it well.
Bill Magyar, Mikey Barr, Rob Tanner, Jim Venn and the rest of the boys have been very good to us.
I went to see Doc when it was still inside, the last time I was out there it was for KA 350 Advanced T-Shooting, I also got to see the last Afterburner Night at the KAM

Definitely stop by the Yard, Hit the Starlite drive in, The Zoo is good, Oh how I miss having to go to Wichita.
Oh Oh Oh, and there is I-81 speedway just north of town, it was good on thursday nights.

Did the new company continue the Cafeteria?

Sadly not on this computer. I can't access the one they're on until... well, I don't know yet, but I did get pictures. Shall I upload some of Doc too?

It's a shame they don't have the money for a hangar yet. You'd think if someone's gonna donate a T-rex to the Museum of World Treasures (Downtown), that somebody else would have the cash to build a hangar.

In all, maybe 8-10 planes are displayed indoors (in a very cramped location, I might add) with another 10-15 outside. They have about three times that many airplanes in storage.

A few planes... Didn't take many this time as I had very little time. This was a few weeks ago, but I've had the hardest time hosting them online.
