Wow! Thanks Paul. 'fraid I'm going to have to save some of these to my collection, sorry.

Fantastic shots and thanks for sharing them. :D

nice stuff! As per my norm I stole a couple for my screensaver :)

What carrier is that?

That is actually not an aircraft carrier per se, it is a helo carrier, LHD-3 "Kearsarge". I was stationed on its sister ship LHD-1 "Wasp". The only aircraft we had on board was 4 harriers, but we also had about 20 helo's (don't remember the exact number since I never really cared for aircraft who's wings spin in a circle). The only down side to serving on that ship was ....... we had about 2,000 Marines on board. (Sorry all you jarheads out there, I am a sailor through and through)

ah HAH! I thought it looked funny! I should have known that-I was in yugoslavia just before the Kearsarge pulled Scott Ogrady out. The marines are called An MEU, right? trying to think which one that was. seems like 23 or 26 but it has been a while...and they weren't exactly at the forefront of my attention at the moment.
EDIT*corrected Kosovo to Yugoslavia-For some reason I was thinking he went down during the 1999 bombing of serbia instead of the 95 bombing of serbia...as opposed to any of the other bombings of serbia  *

Wow! You don't often see the Blue Angels flying formation with their Herk. Great shot!

Anyone else notice the shadow of what looks to be a Mig on the water in the first pic?

Fantastic pictures.

If I had to guess...they may be from the 2006 Jones Beach airshow...

Look close, in the first picture just under the tail of the lead Stearman is the red Mig ( Randy Ball maybe ?).

I believe these shots were taken at the 2006 Jones Beach Air Show in NYC.
