Hi guys,
I have been reading and reading all the boring facts about importing an a/c into Canada, but seems like I have missed the point. I know US and CDN have a free trade agreement, but I am not sure that covers the aviation as well.
So, If I would buy a plane in US and import that plane to Canada I wouldn't pay any Customs and vica versa?
Would a CAA recognize my maintenance plan If my plane would have the only available maintenance (approved by FAA) in the US and not in Canada? Does that law goes so far or not?

Check out this link from the CAA webpage. It give everything you have to do to import a plane to Canada, including reporting to Customs.

Nope. You'll pay some kind of tax once the plane is in Canada. Usually PST and GST. What the FAA may approve for a maintenance plan has no bearing on what Transport Canada may or may not approve. You need to check the CAR's and determine which section your plane falls under. I've imported planes from the USA to Canada and from Canada to the USA. No way to beat the system.

Also, you seem to be asking the same question in different threads. What's the real story here? You will probably find the being upfront with the folks you will be working with is the best way to handle whatever it is you are trying to do.
