I've started a MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/wwii_restorations) that has some pictures of the B-17 Picadilly Lily. I couldn't get any from inside today since it was locked up. I know they've been stripping the paint, so I'll get some pictures when possible.
I still plan on setting up a dedicated site, but this makes the photos available for those of you on myspace.

Will Picadilly Lily be restored to flying status or static?

Hi,

from what I have been told and read via other links here on WIX, Piccadilly Lilly will be restored back to flyable at some point. It is just that POF doesn't have the funding necessary to go into a full tilt resto on it just yet.

Just my 2 cents worth

Paul

Paul,
You are correct. We fully intend to restore her to flying status. However, we only have about 1/10 the funds needed. That's why we're starting with the 'small' stuff that can be done without much financial burden. Those wishing to contribute can send their contributions to:

Planes of Fame
B17 Restoration Fund
7000 Merrill Ave, 17
Chino, CA 91710

Sorry for the blatent plug, but we really want to move forward with the restoration. The goal is to have her restored while Wilbur Richardson is stilll with us. Wilbur is our chief B-17 guy. He was a ball turret gunner for 30 missions on Kismet. He was injured by flak on his 30th mission. He's now 83 and going strong. But we've lost so many of our volunteer veterans, it would mean so much to restore Picadilly Lily to her glory while he's here to see it!

Okay....climbing off pleading soap-box and going to cook dinner and do laundry now :)

I just uploaded some new pictures. There are some showing the work on the inside (meaning it's no longer open to the public for tours). I also have some candid shots of the guys doping the wing.
