G'day folks,

I have a 1970s repro A-2 on which I'd like to paint some nose art on the back. It is my second A-2, I have one that i recently painted up with the art from "Flak Bait", the Marauder in the Smithsonian collection.

What I'm looking for is something interesting, colourful and not too difficult, as I'm not an accomplished artist by any means!

As my two jackets are not perfect reproductions (Banana Republic brand, have side entry hand warmer pockets) but are good enough for daily use, I'll need something that isn't too racy. So, sadly, that rules out pinups, either clothed or unclothed!

Any suggestions and pictures would be greatly appreciated, in the meantime I'll try and post pics of the work I've already done.

Cheers,
Matt

hand painted all the way for originality, no airbrush stuff :vom: use oil based paint that will have flexibility.

40-2292 B-25B "The Ruptured Duck" Ted Lawson's aircraft on the Doolittle Raid. Is a family friendly and simple nose art to paint.

Trae,

Cool jacket, I like that. Did you paint it?

A friend of mine who is an artist painted it for me. My Grandfather flew with the 390th. My friend also painted my daughters jack with the WASPs Fifi on the back, and painted Thunderbirds nose art on the back of my fathers jacket.

Thanks Ryan!

I used the last one one on my A2 and it came out very nicely indeed.

Good luck

Best regards

Can posters like this be found? I have been looking on the net, but nothing so far...

I've a game room and I am trying to find something relatively inexpensive I can frame and post in there...

It took me a few years to decide what to paint on my Jacket because I was searching for a photo of one with my wife's name. Once I found it, I had my jacket painted.
Now I at least have some personal connection to the artwork on the jacket and an original name and style painting.

Thanks folks, the references have been helpful. Trae, I love the work on that jacket, and the 390th has been a favourite of mine since I first read about Framlingham as a kid. I think I will go with that. Any chance of a couple more pics with detail of the cabin and clouds, as well as anything that might help? If it isn't too much trouble, that is.

Cheers,
Matt
