I do agree with Ryan on this subject but I don’t think I take such a hard line on the subject. As a Sailor, Once a Sailor always a Sailor, I can understand the military and historical aspects of the art. But I prefer the "family Friendly" nose art. Lil wasn't that bad in my mind, others are a bit over the top.

I was pretty happy when The Collings Foundation repainted the B-24. While I can't get into the Witch thing at least I could bring my Nephews to see the aircraft and not get in troubleor feel like I'm exposing them to something before the need to be. finding out "the Dragon" was one of the last B-24 to be melted down and it was pretty cool that it extended down the side of the aircraft made it unique, I could understand the choice. But I was happy to see it go.

I do think it comes down to who owes it, who pays the bills and what they decide.

It also comes down to what I choice to support and look at; So don’t whine to me when I won’t support your aircraft or cause when I don’t agree with it. And please don’t call me a Bigot or Raciest or Homo-phob when I disagree with you or what you are doing. Life is a 2 way street, some times we may be going the same way other times we are not going to. That is something for all sides to remember!

WW2 did not have Women in front line aircraft, So there was not Naked Men (at least in a Sexy kind of way) put on Aircraft. And the Men that thought it would be cool to put Naked men on aircraft where not the ones how generally stayed in the Military very long.

I do find humor and irony in the “Apocalypse Now” Quote. How often do we play the Hypocrite without realizing it.

Tim

I agree with Tim on this one.

C'mon everyone. Lets stop this thread and be friends.

? I Don't know what your exactly trying to say? Anyway,

The beauty of New England for me is that most natives are rude but if you use a few manners Show a little respect and offer a few verbal dasies here and there it goes a long way! Accentuate the positive and the world is yours!

We are all friends, or at least I would like to think so.

What are friends for if you can't beat up on each other once in a while. I grew up in an Italian family on one side and a Ukrainian family on the other so one side is hot-headed and the other is just plain stubborn. It wasn't a family get together unless you all got in a passionate debate about something. If you can't have a passionate disagreement with someone without them going away mad then frankly they are not that good of a friend.

this christian thing / warbirds thing bugs me........ i'm a warbird lover since 1972, collector / dealer since 1987. jewish too..... i'm not shoving my up bringing down your throat, accord the same respect to me. stop shoving religion via my warbird passion down my throat as well. my 1st marriage was ruined from bible thumpers. i'm glad you find peace & answers in christianity, but don't sweep everybody into the dust pan!!!! i like nose art in any form. am i a whore monger & fornicator because of that???? i'm a warbird historian, i didn't create the art form!!! nor did any other religion. stop labeling it as your religion duty, it's history plain & simple. if this thread gets wacked, it's not through my doing, i've conveyed the respect that every member of this site deserves..

There ain't nothing that'll start a fight quicker then talking about religion or politics. We already saw what happened when politics was allowed for a brief time. It's time for this thread to go the same way. There is no way you are going to get everyone to agree to a particular point and it is only going to foster hard feelings before it's all done.

That is if it hasn't already of course. Let this thread die.

Well said Tom! I'd also like to take this a step further and say that there are many folks out there that use the whole christian moral issue to pass judgement on others whether it be warbirds or anything else in life. This goes for any organized religion whether it be muslim, christian or jewish, but unfortunately it seems to be an overwhelming problem with a lot of evangelical christians these days.

I have a feeling that they would get pretty upset if I constantly reminded them of my moral ideals and tried telling them what's right and what's wrong. What's truly sad is that many of these folks don't even realize they are doing this (or don't care) since they are "spreading the word of jesus."

We have a few of these "holy-rollers" around here that love preaching and trying to convert others to their cause. Most people around here just shrug them off as a bunch of crack-pot bible-bangers and try to ignore them as best they can. Of course it's kind of hard when they are standing on the sidewalks downtown during one of their "vigils" waving anti-abortion signs and anti-gay marriage signs to get their point across. :? I hate to say it but trying to have an inteligent discussion with some of these folks is like talking to a brick wall since they all believe god is on their side.

As a few have mentioned in earlier postings I think it's best we leave religion and politics out of these forums since it's too easy for people to be offended. I'm sure I may have offended a few just with this post and I apologize if that's the case.

John

I guess I'm thinking in the confines of US Forces (as a general rule that is).

Apparently you have never picked up on what the word evangelism means. Your whole argument you could replace religion with liberalism environmentalism, anti-gun people, anti-war people, pro choice people and the same points would apply. You may have noticed that when are particular group feels passionately about somethign that is what they do, and it is one of the rights that many people have died to protect. I suppose it is ok for groups that you may align yourself with such as anti-war in Iraq, environmentalists, or pro-choicers to speak up and try to convince other's of their beliefs but for those that do not agree with you should get off their soap box.

I will never understand why those of you are so perturbed by a thread continue to visit it. There is a little thing I like to call "self filter" which is essentially the self control to avoid the threads that you don't want to read.

I have the same advice for both the people who don't want to see nose art and the people who don't want to read this thread. Avoid it, we are big boys and girls and if you are visiting a public forum you should assume that once in a while you may read things you don't like.

I have to say that many of you have good points. Now, I am pretty in between on alot of issues. The one thing I am not in between about is warbirds. I would support a museum flying a warbird regardless of nose art. As for the self filter thing I have to agree. Everyone is so fragile these days. You can offend someone by looking at them! I think that everyone is entitled to their beliefs. And that is fine, just leave me the f#%@ alone about your beliefs. Don't push them on me. My beliefs are just asimportant as the next guys. I don't try to push my beliefs on people. And this goes to different things. If I say Burger King has better french fries than Wendys or someting of that nature than whateve. I mean the beliefs on large scale issues. I am not a fan of P.C. stuff at all. I am not a fan of people thinking that they are religous so they are above things(not aimed at any one here at all), but I am also against a guy who thinks it is cool to beat up a WWII vet for his car. If there is a hell(which I think that there is) that guy will be there. I believe in God, but I think that he created us. He then created sense of humor, jokes, nose art, all of that stuff. Not of all of ou guys agree with that and it is fine, you don't have to. That is what is great about it here.
