And here is my all-time favorite B-24 nose, pirated from "Log Of The Liberators, page 305 (sorry Steve :hide: ):

ww2John,

There is one more view of the right side of "Bodacious Idjit":

I really would like a photo of the entire A/C, especially the left-hand side, so that I could build a model of my favorite Lib! If anyone can help, just let me know.

Here's my second favorite, possibly done by the same genius artist!
Also take note of the braced, high mounted pitot masts that we discussed earlier in this thread.

Find a copy of Steve Birdsall's excellent "Log of the Liberators" if you can--he gives equal coverage to all theatres of war that the B-24 fought in. These Pacific men and machines don't really get the credit they deserve.

Just an ultra-quick update since I haven't done one in a while....

During the first few days this week, I was utterly useless. Didn't get anything accomplished, nor did I even care. However, the last couple of days has found me getting a little more into it and things are starting to ease back into their normalcy.

I've mostly been just undoing what we threw together for the unveiling. I've also built a step (of sorts) to get us from the radio operator's position to the top of the wing, which we'll use for storage of spare parts while on tour. There will be a canvas cover at the front of the radio operator's compartment which will keep this storage section from view.

This picture shows the troop seats that we've installed in the radio operator's position. They're not quite finished, but you'll get the basic idea. These will be used for passenger rides and for our scanners during cross country flights. And before anyone asks, yes, they did have a similar arrangement in some of the early B-24's. I'll post a picture of it later.

That's all I have for now. I'll holler at y'all later.

Gary

Ok, now I'm a bit bothered. I've been enjoying this thread up to this point, and now I have to use the "block images" option in my browser for this thread in order to enjoy reading about Gary's rebuild without violating my conscience... I mean, I know that I have to be careful when some people post, and I've worked around it, but puhleeaze...
Can we not have any more such hijackings?

Ryan

Ryan,

I respect your Christian ideals, I am one myself, but it is just art my friend, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is littered with it.

Okay everyone, until I get some more pictures of Ol' 927, here's something y'all can talk about. I received an e-mail from Don Obreiter today and it said the following:

Consolidated B-24M-20-FO (S/N 44-51228), used for icing research as EZB-24M. Assigned to the Wright Air Development Center - Aero Icing Research Laboratory, this was the last B-24 in service with the USAF.

Here's a picture of it as well. Kind of cool, don't you think?
