Umm, Mudge? That rifle on the right's not a Dragunov....It's a Tokarev SVT-40 
Corrosive ammo's not bad, so long as you remember to clean the weapon 2-3 times with an ammonia-based cleaner, such as Sweet's 7.62. Have fired several thousand rounds of old .30-06 and WarPac stuff, with no ill effects at all.

Randy...I knew that...really. Just couldn't think of the name. Friend has one that I've fired. Name notwithstanding....it's still a nice weapon.

I used to be on a drill team when I was in ROTC and that was my first exposure to the Garand. My dad, a Korean-era veteran, spent a buch of time showing me how to safely close that bolt...and that worked for many years. Unfortunately as I started owning and shooting my own M1s, I occasionally got sloppy...and that's when it bit me!!

If you need extra clips, Ive got a few...
Stay away from the Korean Surplus ammo, It smells heavy of ammonia and is very dirty ammo. The Danish Surplus stuff was great...clean, non corrosive....nice firing stuff.
Its all gone now....
I went though 2 crates of it.

The Greek surplus from the CMP was also really good ammo...came pre-loaded in enbloc clips, too!

My first M-1 was from CMP, I think I was 18. Partner and I won out division at the Camp Perry CMP Spring Match. CMP sent me a really nice medal.
Like was said, CMP rifles can be a bit "used", but every once and a while there is a cherry in the mix.

Yes, you can. All it takes is a shoestring.
