Sad news from the 100th BG website.
Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal passed away April 20 after a battle with cancer. Anyone familiar with the 8th Air Force knows what a hero this gentleman is. He flew 52 missions, and if the war had gone on, I'm sure he would have kept on flying. This is a sad day.
Our heroes are leaving us way too soon.

My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and many friends.

Ugh :(

Rosie was one of my heros as a kid too. Read about him early on. Rosie's Riveters was a B17 I wanted to have someday.

I hate that time keeps rolling some days.

Aloha All,
In 1985 IIRC, at the 100th BG Reunion in San Antonio, I was at a table with several vets talking missions...when a white headed darkly tanned man with solid white short sleeve dressy Aloha style shirt, white belt, on white sharply creased pants, white socks, and white deck shoes came through the room.

A quiet hush fell across the whole room as the almost ghostly figure walked toward the center of the room. One of the vets whispered to me, "Have you met Rosie?" They called him over and I shook hands...and I had nothing to ask, I was so filled with stage-fright!

Now he is gone...I am saddened as history came into the room and has left.
Sincerely,
David Aiken
