The info below was found on the Lakeland Ledger site and I might head down there now:

"One last change: Florida residents get in for that half-priced $15 each day for the Saturday and Sunday of the Fly-in. In past years, they didn't get half price during prime time. The weekend days are the best to visit, because that's when most military aircraft pilots and other pilots - with their planes - visit the Fly-In"

Hello Chuck

I'm In the Sun N Fun campground all week and would like to stop by your plane and say hello. How can I identify you or your plane? I met Bill Greenwood and he was very nice and showed me his Spitfire. Finding Bill was not too tough, with just one Spitfire at the show.

My planes are in Kissimmee busy flying with no time for airshow waivers and crowded traffic patterns. I plan to foot it tomorrow and walk around the event and try not to spend too much money on stuff I dont need. I will spend most of the time on the fighter ramp with the CFM bunch.
Tom Blair's Spit should have shown up today along with his Mustang and P-40 too. They flew out of ISM at 1000.
You can PM me for any personal conatct info.

I didn't have computer access after I sent that last message on Thursday So I'm sorry I didn't get to hook up with you at sun n fun. I made it back to Hotlanta and my home computer and I'm trying to get caught back up after a week away from work, home and the WIX. It looks like allot has happened on the WIX since I was gone (With Jacks Bar-B-Q and all, Hope all is Well)!

Chuck,

I hope to be there Wednesday afternoon/evening.

Was going to be there early in the week in the Mohawk, but plans changed.

Doug went to Corpus in the Mohawk, and I rode with Ronnie in the P-51. I then came back from Corpus to Addison on the C-47, Ronnie came back in the P-40 and Stu Dawson brought the Mohawk back. Mike took the Mustang direct to SnF and Doug went to Florida Sunday morning via the airlines.

I am now flying down to SnF from Addison in C-47 on Wednesday morning.

(PT-19 left this morning, and the P-51 should also be there tomorrow or Wednesday. Both of the T-28's are already in Florida, but not sure if both are going to SnF, but I think Doug is flying one back to Addison after the event).

Confused?

Hope to see you Friday - weather permitting.

Julian

Well, what was the rest of the story? How did it turn out for you all??

Lynn

Well, we all made it and had a great time. We had Mike Burke in the P51, Jim Cavanaugh and Alex (his helicopter pilot) in two T28s, a group in the C47 and Mike Cavanaugh with Kevin Raulie in the PT 19. 5 planes in all. We all took turns flying the planes different days and gave rides to the Sun-n-Fun ramp volunteers. We even gave rides to 3 Aviation cadets from England.
Had one great episode that can only happen at an event like this. We arranged a photo shoot with the C47, the Aeroshell team, and Mike and I in the T28s. The T-28s were blocked and we were late for takeoff. When we got airbourne in the T28s, I called out to the C47 for thier location to join up. They reported "3 miles south of an antenna farm", with 2 T-6s on each wing and another T-6 as the photo plane. As we got closer and still did not have them in sight ( it was very hazy), Aubrey, the C 47 pilot, said he'd make a gentle left 360 so we could see them. I saw the formation of C47 and 2 planes on each wing with the photo plane off to the side in a left turn. I called " Talley Ho" and "attacked" the formation with Mike on my wing. As we came into the formation to take our spots in the slot on each wing, I saw something under the wing of the plane I was lining up on. As we got closer I realised that it was a formation of a DC 3 with two Yaks on each wing with a Yak to the side taking photos. We broke off and found our group a few miles away. Now I know how it must of felt over England trying to find your formation.

Cool story Doug! So did y'all sneak into any of the pictures with the Yaks? Did you and Mike score any kills?

That had to be fun Doug. I'm glad to see that Jim's still flying these days. He seemed to get real busy about a year ago and some people were wondering if he'd ever get time to fly again. :)

BTW, when you guys are out, come on down by the CAF hangar. We always love having a couple of extra birds out front. :)

Doug, I had a similar experience at Osh, trying to join up with a photo B-25 coming out of OSH when I was at Fon du Lac. As I got closer in the haze, I was able to pick out the twin tail, but could not get them to answer on the radio. Then I noticed there was not one but two, B-25, hey that's double cool. They seemed a funny color, but were in a gentle left turn just as we briefed at the south end of the lake and seemed to be about 190 knots or so. As I got closer in my join up noticed no props, but some big aft jet engines. They were A-10 s! They seemed to enjoy circling with me for a moment or two then I wnet on my way and found lot's of other photo groups.

I saw the C-47 fly on Thursday and Friday. It looked great and the guying flying it really made you want to go out and buy one. Very skillful.
