Then there's Mr. Odegaard's beauty. Bob seemed to have a good time at Reno -- even though he ended up Maydaying out at the end. He said at that time that he hopes to be back next year...

Love the one white blade.
Last time I went to Oshkosh as we were coming around in the break I was scanning for traffic and saw him comming in from the initial with the one white blade slowly (or seemingly slowly) cruising around. Great effect.

Fantastic pic!

I got to see the F2G fly at Thunder Over Michigan a few years ago..what a sight..and sound (I'd always wanted to hear an R-4360 run just once.)

Just why is that prop blade painted white, anyway?

Nice shot of a SWEET airplane. I saw it for the first time at Chino last year and was thoroughly impressed.

I can't wait to see it again. The first time I did, I was very new to warbirds and didn't know what an F2G was. I just thought it was a Corsairs someone "messed up" by painting it weird colors and messing with the canopy  It wasn't till I got home and did some reading that I learned I should have been more like this... :prayer: :prayer: :prayer:

Like I said, I can't wait to see it again now that I love F2Gs! :D

Why aren't all other props painted this way?

As I have read, Cook Cleland turned over #57 to Ben McKillen to prepare for the 1949 National Air Races. One of the things he did was paint 3 blades black & 1 white, which gave the illusion of the engine turning slowly. :f4u:

I think it is kind of the same idea as the spinners on Me-109s.
