This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I choose not to acknowledge them in this forum. I consider them to be acknowledged elsewhere adequately by people far more eloquent than myself

Ooooo, you've got a mouth on you :D

Some facts:

The Va legislature was contemplating the concealed carry law in committee. The discussion centered around faculty and students in the Commonwealth's colleges and Universities carrrying weapons on campus. The Bill allowing this was squashed before leaving the committee. Now, ifthe engineering Prof who survived the Holocaust, and sacrificed his life that others may live had had a firearm, the outcome may have been quite different. The spokesman for the university came out after the Bill allowing guns on campus was defeated praising the defeat, and sating that the campus was now much more safe.

Apparently, the gunman did not follow the law, and the victoms did.

Ok... this thread really has got out of hand. I started it, because I was feeling awful, really awful about what has happened here in Blacksburg. I felt the need for some support from my fellow WIX'ers.

However, it was never my intention that this post devolve into a discussion on firearms. I guess that I should have realized that it would. I started this post out of support for the students and faculty who lost their lives.

Ironically, one of the first things I thought after the massacre was that this was probably a quiet day in Iraq (and other places too). I wish that the media had made more of an issue of this too. Some members of the media have, but too few of them. Perhaps we need to reflect on that

With regards to firearms, I think a little common sense could go a long way, but I have no wish to ban them. As a former soldier, I have great respect for firearms.

Clearly, there will be no changing of minds on the issue of firearms.

This post really does need to be moved to the Off Topic section.

I'm going to post my reply htere...who'd like to join us?

*edit* This thing made sense when I posted it...anyway, I started a thread in the OT, and I'd love to continue if we can all be civil. I wasn't kidding when I said I'd love conversations with folks I don't agree with.

If the only people I talk to are the ones I agree with, where's the growth potential?

WIX jumped the shark with this thread - you boys need to hang up the politics.

Errrr...ummmm....oh, never mind! :? It's just not worth the effort.

I think it's time this thread drifted off into the sunset my friends...or at least went over to the "Off Topic" forum.
