Nice shot Jack! I had the pleasure of seeing this "Cottonmouth" at Chino some years back. As a matter of fact, I've seen all the Jerry's "Cottonmouths" at Chino at one time or another. Got any pics of the Mustang when Jerry owned it?

What about the other Cottonmouth, the very pretty P-51 he once owned? Didn't he also once have an A-26? Was it named Cottonmouth?

Marine Air- the P-51 is now owned by David Price at the Santa Monica Museum of Flying and the A-26 was named "Hagar the Horrible" after the comic strip and is now with Bob Pond in Palm Springs.

The other, other Cottonmouth. Seen at a CWH show around 1980ish.

Okay, Did he have two Mustangs named Cottonmouth? The reason why I ask, is I was thinking that the first one which I think is the one in the above photo, had an engine out whereas he made a good dead stick landing and slid into a barn. The barn caught on fire, and the P-51 was destroyed in tthe fire. Does anyone else remember that?

That story sounds identical to a crash that Dennis Bradley had with his Mustang CF-BAU, 44-73140.

Cool older shot of Cottonmouth, Eric. Here it is at Camarillo a couple of years ago.

Marine Air-

You are thinking of the ex-CWH mustang that burned. Jerry did have 2 mustangs, the first was Cottonmouth I. The second was a project airplane that later became Glamorous Gal, but he lost interest in the project after Dave Zeuschel was killed in the Sabre.

Does anyone know the story behind this Cottonmouth? I took this photo at the Hamilton Airshow in either 1989 or 90.

Simcoe-

The Sea Fury was Cottonmouth II which has just recently been purchased by the Cavanaugh Flight Museum and is painted as "Conch Fury". Jerry is originally from Louisiana, and came to Canada to play professional football. Over the years he has owned quite a large aircraft collection and has a long history of involvement with the warbird community both in Canada and the US.

Dug up a couple more of the first Cottonmouth -- in 1979 when I first saw her in Chino and fell in love. This is still. I think, my all time favourite Mustang paint scheme (though a well done olive drab scheme, not too glossy, comes close).
