I do have a photo that Brad sent me a while back of a AF babe and there's planes in the background. But she's being VERY un-military in
her dress uniform. Don't know about posting it though. I could end being either the dog or the fire hydrant

I'm surprised one of the photoshop experts out there hasn't altered the picture showing some of those "Remove Before Flight" red streamers hanging from each "jug". :wink:

wow!!!! those definetely aren't drop tanks in the 1st pic!!!! i wouldn't jettison those for anything!!!

re: the hotty with the big cans sitting on the bombs......... why are those bombs rusted??? & profusely rusted at that???? i hope were not dropping those in the mideast!!! was this pic taken at a weapons depo at another location??? otherwise i'd say they look pretty unstable to deliver to the enemy with our pilots delivering them.

From the looks of it: DCU's, the Tatooine-like background, the older munitions, Air Force Dodge truck, etc; I bet she is on one of the larger air bases in Western Iraq (Anbar Province).

I was at Taqqaddum Air Base in '03 & '04 and there were all kinds of older munitions and damaged/destroyed air frames laying around. There was a major effort underway to blow all of the munitions there - they would take them 5-10 miles away and perform controlled detonations.

Taqqaddum was the same air base where they dragged the Mig-25 and Mig-21 out of the sand. I have a couple of pics laying around somewhere.

But, with all that said and done, I wish there was a larger A.F. contingent out there with us...

That's what most GP weapons look like - rusted up on the outside. During the opening shots of Iraqi Freedom, I was dropping MK-82s that were made in the 1950s and 1960s. The US has years and years and years worth of MK-82s, MK-83s, and MK-84s that have been stockpiled at the many munitions depots across the country. Some of those munitions are also stored on pre-positioning ships that are out on the high seas constantly, ready to steam to wherever in the world they're needed. As such, the bombs get rusty very easily.

I can personally attest that this does not affect their functioning in any way -- I have the video to prove it many times over.

I believe that this photo was taken at Al Udeid, and an earlier poster is correct that she is an enlisted ammo troop from an ANG unit.

So, can anyone tell me what bomb that fine young lady is sitting on? For bonus points, what's the name of the warhead...I think it's pretty funny given the circumstance.

no wonder the govt increased troop deployment time!!! we've got to much 50 something year old rusty ordinance to get rid of!!!

Randy -

A very heartfelt "Thanks" from a ground pounder who was there. You guys repeatedly did magnificent jobs in the vicinity of Fallujah, saving the lives of troops slogging it out toe to toe. :drink3:

At night, the sport would be to drink our near beer atop a bunker and watch the fireworks (Fallujah was about 5 miles away). It was especially interesting when an AC-130 made the rounds!
