David,
Good detective work. I was once told that the remains were really only battered and bent chunks not really the project plane some had stated. Now that we've seen pics, I agree. It will look nice restored, but that is far from an airframe.

What on earth would be wrong with buying the lady Be Good. She deserves a far better resting place than "behind a police station in a junkyard" which is where she is now.

My understanding is that talks are in progress regarding the removal of LBG from Libya and transport to the U.S.

AirJimL2 - Mr. Reilly was going to restore and fly the Lib. There is an excellent interview with him, regarding the recovery, in the Jan. 1992 US AVIATOR, with eight very good pictures of the various parts of the plane. Some parts, such as the wing, were in relatively good condition and mostly intact. The bottom line to me is that he was going to make it airworthy.

Its a funny thing regarding the LAdy Be Good - when she was found she was relatively intact (compare to todays hulk to flyable restorations)
At the time nobody wanted and rusting piece of junk crashed aircraft (to quote the Smithsonian Institution). So over the years the LBG was stripped and almost destroyed.
There is no way you can restore this airframe to crashed condition (short of restoring to flyable then bellylanding it in the desert somewhere)

Years agothe Director of The Heritage Association in NW Territories told me of a B-24 in a shallow lake. Anyone have any info on that one?

There is or was a B24 in India, I am not sure if it is still there.
There is also a B24 in South America, that would be easier to get than the one in India.

The B-24 in India is in the Indian Air Force Museum in Palam, near New Delhi. I seriously doubt that they would be willing to part with it.
With regards to the B-24 you mentioned in South America.... this is news to me! Do you know where it is, or have confirmation of its current existence?

I was looking at the 'Lady be Good' a couple of weeks back.
The Libyans did a fantastic job recovering the the aircraft. The basic pieces are still just as they were in the desert. The complete span wing with a section of fuselage was transported in one piece. The nose, the rear fuselage with half stabiliser, now just the one fin with the other half of the stabiliser and two demounted engines are all fine. All the props and and one of the engines were recovered in the 1960's to Wheelus AFB or the US.
The Libyans transported it to Tobruk in 1994 to stop the continuous souvenir hunting. Some largish pieces were recovered some distance from the wreck dumped by over ambitious hunters. They are very protective of who looks at it...closely.
With the both the cockpit and bomb-aimers glazing framework still basically intact it will one one I am sure make a wonderful enigmatic diorama be it in the US or in the proposed War Museum in Tobruk.
Libya, politically, is now in from the cold. It is a poor country but tourism is starting to stir.

Looks like I may be way behind the times with the B24 info. I think the one in SA is in Argentina with either their Airforce or Airforce Museum?
As for Libya, have you been to the Tripoli Int. Airport? Any pics or first hand accounts of what is at their bone yard?

Yes. In on 25th March, then out internal on a rather 'old' Burraqair 727 on the 26th.
Not a place to show too much interest with a camera.
Boneyard. The placed is stuffed with lines of derelict aircraft mostly civil fleets. Fokker Friendship, the Fokker feeder line ..Fellowship(?), 727, and quite a number of old Russian airliners and freighters. All looking pretty tired with the odd engine missing etc.
