You would need a short course to keep it interesting. Even assuming you exceed VNE by 10-15%, the biplanes would still be faster!

Besides if your going to race the FW149 you might as well have the L-17 also they are basically twins.

It's too bad that the Navion can barely get out of it's own way, much less race another aircraft.

There was a guy up in the Seattle area back in the 80s named Cecil Chrytzer who had a "racing" Navion...350hp engine, 3-blade prop, cut-down canopy, etc...as I remember a really cool metallic green paintjob, too.

I wonder what ever happened to that thing.

No Rob, no Navions.

Just Fw 149Ds or P.149s.

Don't even think of spoiling the fun I'm having now!

Why not go completely crazy and resurect a Supermarine Spiteful, all you need is a MkXIV fuselage, a Mk24 tail, Attacker wings, and if you can find a Griffon 101 engine @2112HP it is supposed to be good for 494MPH or there abouts.
What could you get out of it if you could tweek the engine further?

What does a Spiteful has to do with a wee trainer like the Piaggio P.149?

HEY,
Wouldnt there have to be a separate class for Navions?
You could even set it up like the Red Bull races, although you would
have to make the obstacles look like "Gas Stations"

WOOHOO! and theyre off!

No, it's not that.

It's just that it would be cool to have an EUROPEAN trainer race!

:P
