Mudge, do come to Geneseo! It's great fun! A few of the WIX members have sites with lots of Geneseo photos. If you poke around through the WIX Gatherings board, you should be able to find links to their websites -- just look for the Geneseo thread from last year!

Hope to see you there!

Mudge,

If Geneseo is within the realm of possibilities for you, make the effort. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

For a links to a series of albums from previous Geneseo shows go to...

Genny is a great show, not the biggest event but very different than anyother shows you've most likely been too. It is a grassroots airshow.

Mudge, you should really try to make it at least one day, I bet your wife will keep dragging you back year after year!

Eric
I'd love to see the skyraider there. That would be a really gret treat. Naked Fanny was there 1 year that I can recall. I always had hoped it would show up again but never did.

After the show we all hang out at the field drinking Soda, Beer wine and enjoying the "crack"

Hi Mudge,

Geneseo is in my opinion the best warbird airshow around and with Canada being so close you will get a lot of great Canadian vintage aircraft too! :D Your up close and personal with the aircraft and the runway is so dang close to the "fense you can near reach out and touch a wingtip as a plane takes off. I was also buzzed by the Hawker Hurricane last year. About 50 feet over my head!

Here are some pics from last year:

I showed Mrs. Mudge the pictures and asked if she'd want to go. She hesitated for about a nanosecond and said, "Of course." It's only about a 6 hr. drive from here. I made reservations at the Microtel Inn in Henrietta. It was the closest I could find that she () could afford.
See youse troops there.

Mudge the fortunate :D

ps. Thanks for all the pictures. I can't imagine being that close to the runway.
(Unless you're using a BIG lens to trick me.) :?

EDowning wrote:I haven't ever been, but I wonder about the runway, it is 4695' x 90 grass. I have been told it is "improved", but I was wondering, has Mike Schloss had the AD in there? I wonder if I could get the Skyraider in and out of there? It has one heck of alot of tail weight and a very small tailwheel.

Hi Eric,

had a great time chatting with you and Tina at NWOC. You might find the runway at Geneseo a little bit soft for the big bird. I was there with the TBM last year and it took a lot of power to taxi; and I beleive the 'raider footprint is a bit heavier. Bring the T-6 and fly with all the other T-6's and check out the field for 2008.

Hey Mudge, You and the Mrs have to go. Your wife can hang out with the Wives of Wixer’s club.
They are seen here judging the synchronized aviation photographers event.

passport

Since Geneseo is close to Canada, a folks might be going either way across the border remember the US is now requiring a passport for our citizens to reenter US from Canada. I don't know how it applies for Canadians. I just applied for my renewal. Last year when I crossed at Niagara, it was little trouble, especially on their side, almost like going to another state. I'm sorry to see it get more complicated.

As of today, Canadians travelling by land into the USA can do so without a passport ( need proof of Canadian citizenship and one other piece of photo ID), those flying need a passport. In 2008 this changes and all Canadians wanting to travel to the USA, by whatever means, will need a passport. Bill is absolutley correct when he says all Americans need a passport if they are coming to Canada.

My understanding though is so that US Immigration will allow you back into your own country. This is vitally important for those Americans who quite often " cut the corner" through southern Ontario when they are travelling from New York State to Michigan.

The Governors of boarder states and Premiers of boarder provinces are still working with their respective federal governments trying to come up with an alternative Nationality Card for travel between our two countries.

Bottom line is, make sure your travel documents are in order before you leave.

Thanks for all the pictures and encouragement. We'll be there. HOWEVER...Festivals/shopping notwithstanding...Mrs. Mudge is almost as big an airplane nut as I am. Why do you think she keeps DRAGGING me to these things? She'll be at the show all day, both days. She's kinda' upset that she can't go to Chino with me but there's too much mandatory stuff going on at school for her to take any time off. (The way the passenger loads look, I'm not sure when/if I'll get there.) But we'll be at MAAM, Duxford, Geneseo, and Gathering.

Mudge the fortunate :D
